Welcome Parents!
Dear Santa Monica Families,
Welcome to Santa Monica Boulevard Community Charter School (SMBCCS); one of five Fenton Charter Public Schools (FCPS) in the Los Angeles area. SMBCCS became a Fenton school in 2012 and is an organization with over twenty-five years experience in successful Charter management, implementing successful instructional practices, and holding the “whole-child” to high standards. In the 2020-2021 school year, our school community of staff, students, families and our close partnerships in the area, Paramount Studios, Uplift Family Services, Codespark Academy, 9Dots, and the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood will continue to provide high quality, rigorous, and innovative programming and resources to our families. SMBCCS will expose students to enriching lessons with an added instructional focus on developing proficiency in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. We will provide students with the tools they need to be successful in elementary school and beyond.
We want our families to know that we are always available to answer your questions and assist you when you need us. To do so, Santa Monica offers several resources including 2 full-time psychologists, 4 educational specialists, a full-time school counselor, a registered behavior technician, 2 state-of-the-art iLabs that are led by 2 instructional technology coaches providing Computer Science instruction, and an Apple-certified teacher in every classroom. The 2020-2021 school year also brings some exciting news. Every student at SMBCCS will receive a brand new 7th generation Apple iPad with a Logitech Case and Smart Keyboard attachment! We are confident this new addition to our instructional program will continue to fuel and empower our students’ exploration within their learning.
During Distance Learning at SMBCCS, one of our main priorities will be maintaining a robust program that meets student needs at all levels both academic and extracurricular to enrich their virtual experience. In order to accomplish this, I strongly encourage all families to connect with their teachers, specifically on Class Dojo, as it will be our school’s main pathway of back and forth communication with the community. It is also very important that all contact information is correct and updated in the main office. Parents may contact our main office at (323) 469-0971 to update records.
I look forward to partnering with you on behalf of our incredible scholars at Santa Monica Boulevard Community Charter School.
Enthusiastically,
Cary Rabinowitz, Director
